Air Band Basic Information
Solution
The air band is the band of frequencies used for radio communication in aviation. Air band is used to mean the VHF band between 108 MHz and 137 MHz, which covers its use for commercial and general aviation, radio navigational aids, air traffic control and other uses.
Military aircraft use the frequencies 230MHz- 400MHz
In the past, the spacing between air band frequencies has been 25kHz, however recently 8.33kHz spacing has been introduced in order to increase the number of frequencies available. Many new scanners are equipped to deal with this step. It should be noted that whereas commercial aircraft use the new 8.33kHz spacing, the military have so far stuck with the old 25kHz steps.
Try setting your scanner to AM mode.
